Private employers in Nevada generally may not force employees onto direct deposit; employees must give consent. State (public) employees, however, are required to be paid by direct deposit. The state allows an employee to apply for a waiver if direct deposit would cause undue hardship/extreme inconvenience or the employee lacks a deposit account. This applies to state government employees only and does not include certain higher-education and legislative employees.
