Rhode Island does not have a state law mandating private-sector employers to reimburse employee expenses.
State employees may be reimbursed for approved travel expenses such as mileage, tolls, parking, and more. Each state agency establishes its own travel reimbursement rules. Meals and lodging are generally not covered without prior written approval from an agency director.
