Nebraska operates under federal OSHA jurisdiction which covers most private sector workers within the state. State and local government workers are not covered by federal OSHA.
Underground utilities
In Nebraska, excavation activities are governed by the Nebraska Underground Utility Protection Act (R.R.S. Neb. §§ 76-2301 to 2334). This Act requires anyone planning to excavate to notify the Nebraska One-Call Notification System so that the system can notify utility operators to locate and mark their underground utilities to prevent accidental damage, interruption of service, or injury to excavation workers.
