Kansas is under federal OSHA jurisdiction which covers most private sector workers within the state. State and local government workers are not covered by federal OSHA.
Underground utilities
Kansas excavation laws and regulations include the Kansas Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act (KUUDPA) found at K.S.A. §§ 66-1801 – 66-1816. Under the Act, excavators are required to ascertain the location of facilities and provide notice of intent for excavation. The Kansas One Call System / Kansas 811 is also involved in excavation notices and safe practices.
