Minnesota incorporates by reference the federal regulations for injury and illness reporting, with the exception of 1904.2, Partial Exemption for Establishments in Certain Industries. All employers with 11 or more full- or part-time employees must comply with the recordkeeping requirements as described in 29 Part 1904, regardless of industry or North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code.

Reporting work-related fatalities and hospitalizations (29 CFR 1904.39)
Minnesota employers must report the following to Minnesota OSHA:
- All work-related fatalities within eight hours;
- All work-related inpatient hospitalizations within 24 hours;
- All work-related amputations within 24 hours;
- All work-related losses of an eye within 24 hours.
To file a report, the employer must call MNOSHA Compliance during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday:
