Oregon has adopted Part 393 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), in effect on April 1, 2025.
Part 393 applies to intrastate and interstate operations when the vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating, gross combination weight rating, gross vehicle weight, or gross combination weight of 10,001 pounds or more, or is of any size transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.

Mudflaps | All fenders and mudguards must be of sufficient size and must be constructed so they arrest and deflect any dirt, mud, water, or other substance that may be picked up and carried by the wheels. There are three types of fenders and mudguards specified in ORS 815.180. The types of vehicles that must be equipped with one of the three types of fenders and mudguards include:

Tires | Tire Chains - Tire chains are required to be used when conditions demand because of snow, ice, or other inclement weather and signs are posted. When chains are required to be carried and the appropriate signs are posted, chains of sufficient size and number must be in or on the vehicle. |
