In re: Your letter dated November 23, 1976 Clip-on Side Shields
Dear Mr. Pryde:
If the hazards to which your employees are exposed requires side protection for their eyes, it is recommended that you provide safety glasses with permanently attached side shields. You may use clip-on side shields if they are not easily detached and otherwise meet the requirements of ANSI Z87.1 - 1968. One of these requirements is that the side shields be tapered with an anatomical periphery extending at least halfway around the circumference of the lens frames. This requirement cannot be met by some temple-mounted side shields.
