Everyone operating a vehicle on a highway in the United States must comply with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emissions regulations. This means your vehicle must meet the emissions standards in place the year of manufacture. If your vehicle is based in an area that has poor air quality, you may also be required to have an annual emissions test done on your vehicle due to EPA requirements. If you operate vehicles in California, you must also comply with the applicable California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations, such as the Truck and Bus, Greenhouse Gas Reduction, Transport Refrigeration Unit, Clean Truck Check, and Advanced Clean Fleet regulations.
