A body harness distributes fall arrest forces over at least the worker’s thighs, pelvis, waist, chest, and shoulders. This ensures that a worker stays in the harness during a fall and an arrest. For this reason, body belts cannot be used as part of a personal fall arrest system due to their design.
They can, however, be used as part of a positioning device system, travel restraint system, or ladder safety system.
