This specification deals with seamless and welded black and hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe, with nominal wall thickness. Pipe with other dimensions is allowed as long as it complies with all other requirements of the specification.

Vapor piping with operating pressures not exceeding 125 p.s.i.g. must be at least Schedule 40 (ASTM A-53–69, Grade B Electric Resistance Welded and Electric Flash Welded Pipe, or equal). Vapor piping with operating pressures over 125 p.s.i.g. and all liquid piping must be at least Schedule 80 if joints are threaded or threaded and back welded.
