This standard covers elevators, dumbwaiters, escalators, private residence elevators and inclined lifts, moving walks and their hoistways. It provides information on design, construction, installation, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alteration, and repair. Manlifts and certain other types of equipment are excluded from the standard.
