Oklahoma has adopted the following national standards for friable asbestos material abatement:
- 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards – latest edition. However, the state did not adopt §1910.1001(c) and (d). These paragraphs deal with Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs) and Exposure Monitoring.
- Oklahoma’s PEL for asbestos is .01 fibers per cubic centimeter (f/cc).
- See 380:50-11-3 for Sampling and monitoring requirements.
- 29 CFR 1926 Construction Industry Standards – latest edition. The state did not adopt §1926.1101(1) and (2).
- 40 CFR Part 62 (NESHAP) – latest edition.
- ANSI Z88.2 – latest edition.
- American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists’ Adopted Threshold Limit Value for Heat Stress.
- 15 USC Chapter 53, Subchapter II – Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response, Sections 2641 et seq., as amended, and 40 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter R, Part 763, Subpart E: Asbestos Containing Materials in Schools, as amended, including appendices.
The Oklahoma Department of Labor has additional requirements for training, licensing, and the removal of asbestos.
