In the majority of situations, if a motor carrier is experiencing a minor problem that does not result in a triangular “Alert” symbol in a Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category (BASIC), the motor carrier will not receive an intervention. The CSA interventions are designed to assist motor carriers and drivers in improving their safety performance. Under CSA, motor carriers will receive an intervention when their roadside inspection and crash data point to poor performance in a key BASIC.
