In some instances, OSHA requires inspections be documented. Typically, if documentation is required, the employer must generate a certification record of the inspection which includes (at a minimum):
- The date of the inspection;
- The signature of the person who performed the inspection; and
- The number, or other identifier, of the item which was inspected.
