This standard covers non-medical x-ray and sealed gamma ray sources to reduce exposure of persons to radiation. The standard covers appropriate equipment, structural shielding, safe operating procedures. Among other things, it requires that a qualified expert make a radiation protection survey before new installations are operated, and a qualified expert make a radiation protection resurvey when changes have been made.
