This standard covers gas appliances and gas piping installations for fuel gases, such as natural and manufactured gas. It looks at design, fabrication, installation, tests, and operation of these systems. Among other things, the standard requires that the gas be turned off when installation is being performed, burners be turned off before gas to the premises is turned off, and matches or sources of ignition can NOT be used to check for gas leaks (use soap and water solution or other acceptable material instead).
