State
Applicability
Alabama
Applies to CMVs ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Alaska
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 14,000 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Arizona
Applies to GVWR ≥ 26,001 lbs. (single or combination) or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Arkansas
Applies to GVW, GVWR, GCW, GCWR ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
California
Motor carriers with the following types of trucks are subject to the California periodic (90-day) inspection regulations (sometimes referred to as a BIT-required inspection):
- Motortrucks of three or more axles > 10,000 lbs. GVWR;
- Truck tractors;
- Trailers and semitrailers, pole or pipe dollies, auxiliary dollies, and logging dollies used in combination with vehicles listed above;
- Any combination of a motortruck and trailers and semitrailers, pole or pipe dollies, auxiliary dollies, and logging dollies that exceeds 40 feet in length when coupled together;
- Any vehicle or combination of vehicles, transporting hazardous materials;
- Any other motortruck not specified above that is regulated by the Department of Motor Vehicles, Public Utilities Commission, or United States Secretary of Transportation. This would include a vehicle or combination of vehicles ≥10,001 lbs. GVWR or gross vehicle weight (GVW);*
- Any commercial motor vehicle with a GVWR ≥ 26,001 lbs.; and
- Any commercial motor vehicle of any GVWR towing any trailer, semitrailer, pole or pipe dolly, auxiliary dolly or logging dolly with a GVWR > 10,000 lbs.
Exception: There is an exception to the inspection requirements for an agricultural vehicle as defined in 34500.6 of the California Vehicle Code. This exception remains in effect until January 1, 2026.
A vehicle inspection is required at least every 90 days on the following items:
- Brake adjustment,
- Brake system components and leaks,
- Steering and suspension systems,
- Tires and wheels, and
- Vehicle connecting devices.
Inspections must be documented and must include the signature of the carrier’s authorized representative attesting to the inspection and the completion of all required repairs. Inspection records must be maintained for 2 years.
The Federal Department of Transportation has determined that this mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
*As of January 1, 2025, vehicles with a GVWR of under 26,001 pounds (as specified in the sixth bullet above) will no longer be subject to California’s 90-day inspection program.
On and after January 1, 2025, vehicles that are no longer subject to the 90-day inspection requirement will be subject to the federal annual inspection requirements in Part 396 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs).
Colorado
Applies to vehicle with apportioned plate; GVWR or GCWR ≥ 16,001 lbs.; or placardable hazmat.
In addition, periodic (annual) inspection requirements (396.17) apply to vehicles with a GVWR or GCWR of 10,001 lbs. to 16,000 lbs.

Conneticut
Applies to GVW, GVWR, GCW, GCWR ≥ 18,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
Same as federal.
Delaware
Applies to GVWR, GCWR > 26,000 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
Prior to registration, registration renewal or reregistration, every motor vehicle to be operated on highways of Delaware must be inspected by the Division of Motor Vehicles. The official state inspection does not replace the Federal Periodic Inspection required by 396.17.
The official state inspection is not required for vehicles registered under the International Registration Plan (IRP) as long as a valid federal periodic inspection certificate is presented at the time of vehicle registration.
The above inspection requirement may be waived for fleets of 15 or more vehicles provided there are adequate inspection and maintenance facilities at the fleet head-quarters. Approval must be granted.
District of Columbia
Applies to GVWR, GCWR > 10,000 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The District has an official mandatory, periodic vehicle inspection program under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works. Every motor vehicle or trailer registered in the District must be inspected annually and an officially approved inspection sticker must be obtained for each vehicle.
Any fleet of 500 or more motor vehicles registered in the District in the name of one owner may be authorized to provide for the inspection at a location other than a District inspection station, as approved by the Chief of the Bureau of Motor Vehicle Services. Such inspections will be done by Department personnel and conform with the annual inspection schedule.
Florida
Applies to GVW, GVWR, GCWR ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
A driver operating a commercial motor vehicle with a GVW, GVWR, GCWR < 26,001 lbs., and not transporting hazardous materials must comply with 396.3(a)(1) and 396.9.
Utility Exception: An intrastate driver for an electric utility or telephone company operating within a 200-air-mile radius of the location where the vehicle is based is exempt from 396.11 and 396.13.
Agricultural Exception: An intrastate driver who is transporting agricultural products, including horticultural or forestry products, from farm or harvest place to the first place of processing or storage, or from farm or harvest place directly to market must comply with 396.3(a)(1) and 396.9.
Covered Farm Exception: Part 396 does not apply to drivers of covered farm vehicles as defined in 316.003 of the Florida Statutes.

Georgia
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
Exception: Part 396 does not apply to drivers of covered farm vehicles as defined in 1-390.1 of the Georgia Department of Public Safety Transportation Rulebook.

Hawaii
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, or GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The Motor Vehicle Safety Office (MVSO) conducts an official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program.
Every truck, truck-tractor, semitrailer, trailer, or pole trailer having a GVWR > 10,000 lbs. and vehicles transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials must be inspected and certified annually at designated inspection stations, and every registered owner must obtain a certificate of inspection and approval as well as display an inspection sticker.
The vehicle must have a Vehicle Identification Card from the MVSO prior to getting a safety check for the vehicle.
The U.S. DOT has determined that this mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Idaho
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, or GCW > 26,000 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Exception: Intrastate carriers operating commercial motor vehicles transporting property with a GVWR, GCWR, GVW, or GCW greater than 10,000 lbs. and up to 26,000 lbs., subject to the authority of the Idaho State Police, must comply with 396.1, 396.3(a), (a)(1), and (a)(2), and 396.5 through 396.9.
Illinois
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
Exception: Part 396 does not apply to drivers of covered farm vehicles as defined in 92 Ill. Adm. Code 390.1020.
The Illinois Vehicle Inspection Law is administered and regulated by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety, Commercial Vehicle Safety Section. Inspections are conducted at Illinois Official Testing Stations which are privately owned businesses that serve as agents of the State of Illinois.
Property-carrying intrastate vehicles subject to the law include:
- Vehicles registered for a gross weight of more than 8,000 pounds;
- Vehicles which pull a trailer with a gross weight or registered gross weight of more than 8,000 pounds;
- Trailers with a gross weight of more than 5,000 pounds;
- Medical transport vehicles (includes ambulances, rescue vehicles, and medical carriers); and
- Tow trucks.
Vehicles subject to the law must be inspected every six months.
Truck-tractors, semitrailers, and property-carrying vehicles registered for a gross weight of more than 10,000 pounds but less than 26,001 pounds, must be inspected at least once every 12 months.
For trucks, truck tractors, trailers, and semi-trailers the inspection shall be conducted in accordance with Appendix G to Part 396 procedures. Required safety equipment (emergency warning devices, fire extinguisher) is not subject to inspection during an Appendix G inspection.
For all other vehicles, the safety inspection includes the testing of brakes, lights, horn, reflectors, rear vision mirrors, exhaust system, safety chains, window glass, frame, axles, wheels, tires, steering, and suspension.
Vehicles properly licensed in another state and displaying a valid license plate are exempt from the Illinois Vehicle Inspection Law.
Interstate carriers of property are exempt from the Illinois Vehicle Inspection Law, provided they display the appropriate U.S. DOT number and meet the annual inspection required in Part 396. Illinois Official Testing Stations are authorized to conduct the Federal annual inspection required by Part 396.
Indiana
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. (for-hire carrier); GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. (private carrier); or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Exception: Vehicles operated by private carriers of property only in intrastate commerce, carrying a perishable product are exempt from 396.9 unless an imminent safety hazard exists. The exemption from 96.9 is not intended to include refrigerated vehicles loaded with perishables when the refrigeration unit is working.
Exception: The operator of a “covered farm vehicle” as defined in 390.5 is exempt from the vehicle inspection requirements in Part 396. This exception does not apply if transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials.
Iowa
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Does not apply to combination vehicles provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the power unit is 10,000 pounds or less and the gross combination weight rating is 26,000 pounds or less.
Kansas
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Exception: Private motor carriers domiciled in Kansas operating vehicles with a GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW of 10,001 lbs. to 26,000 lbs. must comply with 396.17 (periodic/annual inspection) and are exempt from compliance with the rest of Part 396. This exemption does not apply to motor vehicles which are used in the transportation of hazardous materials and required to be placarded.
Kentucky
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Louisiana
Applies to single or combined GVW or GVWR > 26,000 lbs. or hazardous materials.
Louisiana has enacted an official mandatory annual inspection program that is equivalent to the federal periodic inspection (396.17). All vehicles registered in this state that are subject to the federal periodic inspection regulations must be inspected at an approved Louisiana fleet/commercial inspection station and have a commercial inspection sticker affixed in the lower left corner of the windshield.
In addition to the mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program, the Director of Public Safety, members of the State Police and such other officers and employees of the Department as the Director may designate, may at any time upon reasonable cause to believe that a vehicle is unsafe require the driver of the vehicle to stop and submit the vehicle to an inspection. He will then receive a notice. Upon receiving notice, every owner or driver must secure an official certificate of inspection and approval within five days.
Maine
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The State Police administer an official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program. All motor vehicles required to be registered in Maine must be inspected once a year at official inspection stations.
If the condition of the vehicle conforms in every respect as required by law and the rules and regulations governing inspection, an official inspection sticker will be placed in the lower left-hand corner of the windshield, or upper center of windshield.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Maryland
Applies to GVWR, GCWR ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
Maryland has an inspection program for commercial motor vehicles > 10,000 lbs. as well as for certain other vehicles registered in Maryland.
Each vehicle must be inspected at least once every 12 months or at least every 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.
A truck-tractor that has been in operation for not more than five years from the vehicle’s model year must be inspected once every 12 months or 35,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Dump trucks 18 years or older must be inspected once every 6 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first.
Records of the inspection are to be maintained for 2 years.
This inspection program is considered equivalent to the federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Massachusetts
The Registry of Motor Vehicles conducts a mandatory commercial motor vehicle inspection program for vehicles registered in Massachusetts.
Vehicles subject to this annual inspection program include:
- Vehicles with a GVWR or GCWR ≥10,001 lbs.;
- Single, full, or semi-trailers, used in commerce, with a manufacturer’s GVWR > 3,000 lbs.;
- Any size vehicles transporting a placardable amount of hazardous materials; and
- Converter dollies.
Inspections are conducted by a state-licensed inspector at a state-approved inspection site.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Michigan
Applies to GCW or GCWR ≥ 26,001 lbs. inclusive of a towed unit(s) with a GVWR or GVW > 10,000 lbs., whichever is greater; GVWR or GVW ≥26,001 lbs., whichever is greater; or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Minnesota
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
An annual inspection must be done on commercial motor vehicles registered in Minnesota. A commercial motor vehicle includes:
- A motor vehicle having a GVW > 26,000 lbs.;
- Each vehicle in a combination > 26,000 lbs.; and
- Any size vehicle transporting hazardous materials that are required to be placarded.
It is unlawful for a person to operate a commercial motor vehicle unless the vehicle displays an inspection decal issued by a certified inspector or the vehicle carries:
- Proof that the vehicle complies with federal motor vehicle inspection requirements for vehicles in interstate commerce, and
- A certificate of compliance with federal requirements issued by the commissioner.
The inspector must be:
- An owner or an employee of a motor carrier having one or more power units;
- A dealer buying and selling commercial motor vehicles;
- A person engaged in the business of repairing and servicing commercial motor vehicles; or
- Employed by a governmental agency that owns commercial motor vehicles.
The certification of a private inspector will be valid for 2 years. A private inspector may charge a reasonable fee. An inspection report must be prepared and a decal must be issued.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Mississippi
Applies to GVWR, GCWR ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The Department of Safety administers and enforces an official mandatory annual vehicle inspection program. All motor vehicles, trailers, semitrailers and pole trailers registered in the state must be inspected and the certificate of inspection must be displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the windshield or upon such vehicle so as to be visible from the outside.
Although this inspection is applicable to motor vehicles, etc. registered in other states and operating on the highways of Mississippi, carriers subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations are exempted from the provisions of this statute.
Missouri
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The State Highway Patrol administers an official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program. Inspection is required biennially and prior to the time of registration. Used motor vehicles sold must be inspected prior to sale if less than six years old. The inspections are conducted at officially designated inspection stations and upon approval, an inspection sticker is affixed.
Section 307.170(7) requires all commercial vehicles and trailers to be equipped and maintained so as to obtain a certificate of inspection and approval as required by the provisions of 307.360 RSMO.
Exceptions: New motor vehicles which have not been previously titled and registered are exempt from the official inspection for five years prior to the initial motor vehicle registration or the next succeeding registration required by law.
Also exempt from the official inspection are motor vehicles engaged in interstate commerce and proportionately registered with the Motor Carrier Services Unit of the Missouri Department of Transportation. Trailers are no longer required to be inspected, except for VIN verification.
Montana
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Nebraska
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Nevada
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or hazmat as defined in NRS 459.7024. Same as federal.
New Hampshire
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
An official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program is administered by the Division of Motor Vehicles, Department of Safety. All vehicles > 10,000 lbs. GVW must be inspected once a year.
All trailers, semitrailers, and full trailers with a registered weight ≥ 3,000 lbs. must be inspected annually.
In case of the owner being a private individual, inspection is required on the birth date of the owner and again six months later. In the case of the owner being a company or corporation, the month assigned is based on the registration month for the legal entity.
Newly registered vehicles and vehicles for which ownership has been transferred, ten days are allowed following registration. If a vehicle is purchased at retail from a licensed dealer, the vehicle shall be inspected no later than 30 days after the date of transfer. In all cases, inspections are made at officially designated inspection stations.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
New Jersey
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW, or registered weight ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
An official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program is administered by the Motor Vehicle Commission. All gasoline-fueled and bi-fueled motor vehicles that are registered as commercial motor vehicles are subject to annual inspection. This inspection must be performed at a state-licensed private inspection facility.
Diesel-fueled motor vehicles having a GVWR of 8,501 to 17,999 lbs. that are plated commercial fall under the state’s self-inspection program. These vehicles must be inspected annually by the vehicle’s owner or lessee.
Heavy-duty diesel-powered motor vehicles having a GVWR≥ 18,001 lbs. are subject to an annual inspection performed at a state-licensed private inspection facility.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
New Mexico
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
New York
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The Department of Motor Vehicles conducts an official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program for all motor vehicles registered in New York State.
Every vehicle must be inspected at an officially designated inspection station and bear a valid certificate of inspection before original, transfer or renewal of a registration.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
North Carolina
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The periodic/annual inspection requirements in 396.17 through 396.23 and including Appendix G apply to all vehicles engaged in intrastate commerce in North Carolina with a GVWR > 10,000 pounds.
Every motor vehicle registered or required to be registered in North Carolina and subject to the inspection requirements must display a current federal inspection certificate when being operated.
On self-propelled vehicles the federal inspection certificate must be displayed on the outside of the vehicle in a readily visible location on, or in the immediate vicinity of, the driver’s door exclusive of the window or the rear view mirror.
On trailers and semi-trailers, the federal inspection certificate must be located on the left side as near as possible to the outside lower front of the vehicle.
The inspection certificate shall contain the legible information required by 396.17(c)(2).
North Dakota
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Ohio
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. (for-hire carrier)

Oklahoma

Oregon
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Pennsylvania
Penn DOT applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 17,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
PUC applies to GVWR or registered gross weight > 10,000 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
An official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Motor carrier vehicles with a registered gross weight > 17,000 lbs. (in Pennsylvania) must be inspected once a year at an officially designated inspection station. Upon inspection and approval, an inspection certificate will be issued.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Rhode Island
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The Safety and Emission Control Section of the Division of Motor Vehicles administers an official mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program.
All motor vehicles registered in this state are required to be inspected at time of registration and annually thereafter.
Vehicles must display an official inspection sticker certifying the vehicle has been inspected at an officially designated inspection station.
Fleet operators may maintain their own inspection stations, but may not issue inspection certificates for any vehicle other than their own.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
South Carolina
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
South Dakota
Applies to ≥ 3 axles; GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs., placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Tennessee
Applies to GVWR or GCWR ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Texas
Applies to actual gross weight or gross weight rating > 26,000 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) administers the Commercial Motor Vehicle Compulsory Inspection program. This mandatory vehicle inspection program applies to Texas-registered self-propelled or towed vehicles or combinations of vehicles:
- With a gross weight or gross weight rating > 26,000 lbs.;
- Used to transport a placardable amount of hazardous materials; or
- With a gross weight rating > 10,000 lbs. that are operated in interstate commerce.
Vehicles passing the inspection will be issued a unique vehicle inspection report by the certified inspection station to designate that the vehicles have met the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and state inspection requirements.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Exception: Intrastate farm vehicles with a gross weight or gross weight rating < 48,000 lbs. have been excepted from the program. Covered farm vehicles as defined in 390.5, and government and emergency vehicles are also excepted.
Exception: A Texas-registered commercial motor vehicle is not subject to the Commercial Motor Vehicle Compulsory Inspection program requirements if the vehicle is not domiciled in Texas, is registered in Texas under the International Registration Plan (IRP), and has been issued a certificate of inspection in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Utah
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The mandatory vehicle inspection program in Utah is administered by the Department of Public Safety, Utah Highway Patrol, Vehicle Safety Section. All vehicles required to be registered in Utah are subject to the vehicle inspection program.
A vehicle with a GVWR ≥ 10,001 lbs. is required to pass the inspection annually.
The inspections must be conducted by a certified safety inspector at an authorized safety inspection station. Vehicles that pass the inspection are issued a safety inspection certificate.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Exception: Utah’s mandatory inspection requirement does not apply to a commercial motor vehicle that has a GVWR over 26,000 pounds and any attached trailer, semitrailer, or trailing equipment that is operating with an apportioned registration and has a valid annual inspection that complies with 396.17.
Vermont
Applies to GVW or GCWR ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The Department of Motor Vehicles administers the mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program which is conducted at officially designated inspection stations throughout the state. All vehicles registered in Vermont must be inspected once each year. Other vehicles, at time of first registration and subsequently as shown on the current inspection certification affixed to the vehicle.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Virginia
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW > 26,000 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The Department of State Police is authorized to conduct the mandatory periodic vehicle inspection program in Virginia.
All motor vehicles, trailers, and semitrailers registered in Virginia must be submitted to inspection at an official inspection station at time of first registration and subsequently once each year.
Inspections are conducted at officially designated inspection stations, and upon approval an inspection sticker is affixed to the vehicle which indicates the month of inspection.
Private fleet garages may be designated as inspection stations for their own fleets. To qualify fleets must have at least 20 vehicles.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Exception: Any commercial motor vehicle subject to regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), that is registered in Virginia, operates in interstate commerce, and is found to be in compliance with the federal requirements for annual safety inspection is considered in compliance with Virginia safety inspection laws.
Washington
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
West Virginia
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat.
The West Virginia State Police administers a mandatory periodic inspection program.
All commercial motor vehicles registered in the state and operated on the highways of West Virginia are required to be inspected annually at officially designated inspection stations.
Upon approval an official inspection sticker is affixed to the lower left-hand corner of the windshield.
This mandatory inspection program is considered equivalent to the Federal annual inspection requirement in Part 396.
Wisconsin
Applies to GVW, GVWR, GCW, GCWR ≥ 10,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
Wyoming
Applies to GVWR, GCWR, GVW, GCW ≥ 26,001 lbs. or placardable hazmat. Same as federal.
