Texas has adopted 390.15 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), as amended through September 1, 2022. Section 390.15 includes accident recordkeeping requirements.
Section 390.15 applies to a vehicle or combination of vehicles with an actual gross weight or a gross weight rating in excess of 26,000 pounds when operating intrastate, and a vehicle of any size hauling hazardous materials requiring placarding.

| Procedure | A “Request for Copy of Peace Officer’s Crash Report” form (CR-91) may be used. It may be obtained via the Texas Department of Transportation website: https://www.txdot.gov/driver/safety/crash-reports.html. An accident report is also available online: https://cris.dot.state.tx.us/public/Purchase/app/home. |
