No employer wants to be on the receiving end of a wrongful termination claim. To help employers better understand when termination is unwise and when it’s likely an appropriate decision, we’ll take a traffic-light approach. We’ll describe several real-life termination scenarios and have the audience decide if it’s a green light situation, meaning, firing is a “go” or whether extreme caution is warranted.
Some of the situations we’ll cover include the possible termination of an employe:
- Covered by the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act
- Who uses marijuana in a state where it’s legal
- Who has been arrested
- That is about to exhaust FMLA leave
- Threatening violence
We’ll be asking audience members to join our chat and share their thoughts on these scenarios, plus we’ll save time at the end to answer participant’s specific termination-related questions.
