Each April 1, the next annual edition of the OOS Criteria goes into effect. For example, the 2026 edition goes into effect 4/1/26. The OOS Criteria are used by roadside enforcement personnel to determine if a driver or vehicle are so unsafe that they must be removed from service until the problems are addressed.
