Douglas (Doug or DJ) Neubauer joined the EHS Editorial team at J.J. Keller & Associates in 2026. Before joining J.J. Keller, Doug worked in construction safety on site for an industrial electrical contractor. He has also worked in safety for a logistics support company as well as safety and emergency management for a large healthcare system.
Doug’s eclectic career background also includes aviation and emergency services including firefighter, paramedic and law enforcement. Those roles provided firsthand exposure to the consequences of workplace incidents and strengthened his commitment to a simple safety philosophy; no building project, machine or product is worth anyone’s life or well-being. He is an advocate for practical, proactive safety measures that help ensure every worker goes home and the end of the workday. He is a firm believer in taking the time to do the job safely and correctly because it still takes less time and costs less than explaining why the job went wrong and caused damage to people and/or property.
He holds several credentials from the Board of certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) including the Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Safety Management Professional (SMP), Safety Trained Supervisor-Construction (STSC), and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST). Doug also holds the OSHA 500 and 501 credentials as well as the NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Technician (CEST) certification. His formal education includes an associate’s degree in aviation maintenance technology, a bachelor's degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and an MBA from Gardner-Webb University.
