Maine has adopted OSHA’s occupational safety and health standards. They are not necessarily identical to OSHA standards. Maine’s state plan covers state and local government workers; federal government workers and private sector employees are covered by federal OSHA. The state plan has no additional requirements for work zones, flaggers, signals, and barricades.
Note that some states have requirements for work zones and flaggers that fall under the state’s Department of Transportation regulations, in addition to the OSHA-related requirements listed here.
