Illinois has adopted federal OSHA standards and incorporates them by reference. The Division of Occupational Safety and Health (IL OSHA) covers state and local government workers in the state. Federal government workers and private sector employees are covered by federal OSHA. IL OSHA does have its own state supplement to the national Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways that amends Part 6 of the MUTCD (see link below).
Note that some states have requirements for work zones and flaggers that fall under the state’s Department of Transportation regulations, in addition to the OSHA-related requirements listed here.
