There is no official list of Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs) as there is for approved labs. Some SAP associations offer a list of members who are qualified to perform DOT return-to-duty evaluations, but you will still have to contact the clinic to confirm that the individual is qualified based on Part 40 criteria.

Motor carriers are required to maintain an active list of SAPs to provide to drivers who have engaged in prohibited activities in Subpart B to Part 382. An important task is to make sure the names provided to the driver are still qualified. In fact, during an audit by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the investigator may ask you how you are maintaining your list to know the SAPs are qualified.
