When will a DOT roadside inspection officer conduct an inspection?

When DOT roadside inspection officers are determining whether or not to inspect a commercial motor vehicle and its driver, they look at the Inspection Selection System (ISS).

This report is a condensed version of the Safety Measurement System (SMS) information with recommendations on whether or not to inspect. The ISS score is posted on A & I Online along with the SMS results for public view. The ISS score will not match the SMS number since they have a different formula for calculation (i.e., different algorithm).
