For general industry, there are numerous instances where OSHA mentions high voltage signs or markings.
OSHA requires high voltage signs at: §1910.304(e) (disconnecting means, over 600 volts, high voltage warning sign), §1910.305(b)(3) (cabinets, boxes, and fittings; pull and junction boxes for systems over 600 volts, High voltage marking), §1910.305(h)(8) (portable cables over 600 volts, termination enclosures, high voltage warning marking).
OSHA requires voltage markings for equipment over, equal to, or less than 600 volts at §1910.303(e) (General marking requirement), §1910.305( (appliances, rating mark), §1910.305( (transformer, operating voltage mark), and §1910.306(g)(2)(iv) (dielectric heating equipment, warning label). Also, §1910.335(b requires safety signs, safety symbols, or accident prevention tags where necessary to warn employees about electrical hazards which may endanger them.
For construction, OSHA calls for voltage markings or high voltage marking signs at: §1926.403(g) (general marking requirement, including voltage marking), §1926.404(d)(2)(ii) (disconnecting means, over 600 volts, high voltage warning sign), §1926.405(b)(3)(ii) (cabinets, boxes, fittings, pull and junction boxes, over 600 volts, high voltage marking), §1926.405(h) (termination enclosures, over 600 volts, high voltage hazard warning), §1926.405( (appliances, voltage and amperes or voltage and watts rating mark), §1926.405( (transformers, operating voltage warning), and §1926.408(b)(2) (class 2 or 3 power supply unit, class and electrical rating mark).
