If any defect is found, the ladder must be immediately taken out of service and physically tagged, “Dangerous: Do Not Use,” until it is repaired or replaced. OSHA believes this wording is necessary to get workers’ attention to provide them with basic information that a hazard exists and they must not use the ladder.
