What is IRP?

IRP is the International Registration Plan for vehicle licensing. It is a base state registration agreement. IRP’s parameters for registration include vehicles 26,001 lbs. and more, and operating interstate (in at least one other jurisdiction besides the base state). IRP issues a license plate (apportioned tag) and a cab card for each vehicle registered. All juridictions you are going to operate in both in the U.S. and Canada must be listed on the cab card.
