OSHA defines a confined space as meeting the following criteria:
- Is large enough for an employee to bodily enter and work,
- Has limited or restricted means of entry and exit, and
- Is not designed for continuous occupancy.
If the space does meet the definition of “confined space,” then the employer needs to further evaluate the space to determine whether it meets the definition of “permit-required confined space.”
