Employers should instruct employees to follow good work practices after they have taken steps to:
- Cool the work environment,
- Rotate strenuous jobs,
- Provide longer rest and more frequent periods during the day, and
- Acclimatize workers to the heat.
Employee education is vital to make workers aware of the need to replace fluids and salt lost through sweat. Heat stress is an occupational health issue that requires emphasis in work environments. Employers who have employees directly affected by hot work environments must take precautions to prevent heat stress from occurring.
