OSHA does not specify font size or typeface size. However, ANSI Z535.2, American National Standard for Environmental and Facility Safety Signs, does provide minimum letter heights of message text and signal words, like DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION. The heights provided are based on the safe viewing distance and reading conditions. The ANSI standard also has a recommended range for the width-to-height dimensions for the strokes of the letters.
