In order to standardize how inspectors determine the length and width of a vehicle, the regulations have incorporated a list of devices which are excluded. Sec. 658.16 lists such items as rear view mirrors, turn signal lamps, handholds for cab entry/ egress, splash and spray suppressant devices, and load induced tire bulges. For a complete listing, review Appendix D for Part 658.
