FMCSA identifies three stages of hypertension:

  • Stage 1 (140/90-159/99): Driver may be certified for 1 year.
  • Stage 2 (160/100-179/109): Driver may be certified one time for 3 months.
  • Stage 3 (At or greater than 180/110): Driver is disqualified.
