The requirement to report to the CSB includes a requirement to report an accidental release of a regulated substance or extremely hazardous substance that results in a death, serious injury, or substantial property damage. The CSB reporting requirement is more broad than the requirement to report to the NRC, although it only applies to releases to the ambient air. The CSB does not have a threshold reporting quantity for releases and also includes a requirement to report serious injuries, deaths, or property damage.
