Personal fall protection must meet all of the requirements under 1910.140, “Personal fall protection systems.” This includes anchorage requirements under paragraphs (c)(12) and (13). Whatever anchorage is used, it must be capable of supporting at least 5,000 pounds for each employee attached or designed, installed, and used, under the supervision of a qualified person as part of a complete personal fall protection system that maintains a safety factor of at least two. Typically, an engineer is required to certify that anchorages meet these requirements.
