Arizona requires all commercial motor vehicles operating in the state for the transportation of passengers or property for compensation, or in the conduct of business, to stop and report at the state weigh scales. The only vehicles exempt from stopping are passenger cars, station wagons and 3/4 ton or less pickups or vans.
Portable scales are also used to check compliance with legal weight limits.
