In Nevada, concealed carry of a firearm is legal for adults aged 21 and older who are allowed under state and federal law to possess a firearm and who have a state Concealed Firearm Permit, and for non-residents who hold a permit from a state that shares reciprocity with Nevada. This extends to concealed carry within a private vehicle. Local restrictions may apply.
Permits
Permits may be issued to residents and non-residents. Permits are issued by county sheriffs’ offices. Applicants must complete a state-approved safety training course and submit documentation to demonstrate competence with a handgun.
Other weapons
No weapons other than handguns may be concealed carried in Nevada even with a permit.
Permitted non-lethal weapons include:
- Stun guns/tasers
- Pepper spray (some restrictions apply)
- Tear gas (some restrictions apply)
- Bear spray (legal for self-defense against wildlife)
- Less-lethal launchers
Duty to inform
There is no duty to inform in Nevada, but drivers must be prepared to show identification and a valid concealed carry permit if asked by law enforcement.
Employee parking lots
This issue is not explicitly addressed in Nevada law.
