Idaho is a constitutional carry state, which means law-abiding adults 18 years and older who can legally possess a firearm under federal and state law may carry a concealed handgun without obtaining a permit. Concealed carry in private vehicles is allowed without a permit.
Permits
Permits are not required but may be useful for reciprocity with other states. An Enhanced Concealed Weapons License (CWL), available to qualified persons 21 years and older, is the most recognized for purposes of reciprocity with other states. Concealed carry applicants must complete a state-approved firearms training course or demonstrate firearms experience from organized shooting competitions or military service. Permits are issued by county sheriffs’ departments.
Other weapons
Any concealed deadly weapon is covered by an Idaho CWL.
Permitted non-lethal weapons include:
- Stun guns/tasers
- Pepper spray
- Tear gas
- Bear spray (for defense against wildlife)
- Bludgeons/batons
- Brass knuckles
- Less-lethal launchers

Employee parking lots
