The Division's Employment Standards Bureau enforces certain state labor laws. These laws include the payment of wages contained in Utah Code Annotated, Title 34, Chapter 28; The Utah Minimum Wage Act contained in Utah Code Annotated, Title 34, Chapter 40; the licensing of private employment agencies contained in Utah Code Annotated, Title 34, Chapter 29; and all state laws which govern the employment of minors.
State Child Labor Laws: Utah law prohibits minors under the age of 18 from working in some occupations and limits working hours for persons under the age of 16. Age certificates issued by the schools are required.

State Minimum Wage: The minimum wage for Utah employees is $7.25 an hour effective July 24, 2009.
The Utah Minimum Wage Law can be found at Title 34, Chapter 40 of the Utah Code Annotated
State Prevailing Wage: Utah does not have a prevailing wage law; it was repealed in 1981.
