The following items are generally required to title your vehicle within Washington:
- Photo identification card;
- Proof of Washington address or a primary residence address exemption form;
- The current vehicle title, with the seller's portion completed;
- Notarized bill of sale, if applicable;
- Odometer disclosure statement, if applicable;
- Emissions testing report, if applicable; and
- Payment for all applicable fees.
Other relevant information includes:
- The vehicle and/or title may be subject to sales and use tax,
- Washington typically allows credit for tax paid to another state,
- Vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections are only required for salvage and rebuilt vehicles, and
- Washington offers Quick Titles as a certificate of ownership for vehicles that can be obtained quicker than a standard title.
Agency: Washington State Department of Licensing.
Fees: There are fees associated with titling a vehicle within Washington, including a $15 title transaction fee. The fee for a Quick Title is $85.50.
