Items required to obtain a vehicle title vary depending on the type of vehicle being titled. However, the following items are generally needed to obtain a vehicle title within Vermont:
- Manufacturer's certificate of origin;
- Bill of sale, if applicable;
- New vehicle information statement, if applicable;
- Odometer disclosure statement, if applicable; and
- Original/previous certificate of title, if applicable.
Other relevant information includes:
- The vehicle and/or title may be subject to sales and use tax,
- Vermont typically allows credit for tax paid to another state, and
- Vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections are generally not required.
