To properly title a vehicle within South Carolina, you'll need all of the following:
- Completed title application (SCDMV Form 400);
- Completed statement of vehicle operation in South Carolina (SCDMV Form TI-006), if applicable;
- Title signed over to you as the buyer;
- Bill of sale with the buyer's signature;
- Title fee; and
- Infrastructure maintenance fee payment, if applicable.
Other relevant information includes:
- The vehicle and/or title may be subject to tax,
- South Carolina typically allows credit for tax paid to another state, and
- South Carolina offers an expedited title service for in-person customers.
Agency: South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
Fees: There are fees associated with titling a vehicle within South Carolina, including a $15 title fee. The fee for an expedited title is $35.
