Mississippi requires all motor vehicles to be titled. In addition to completing a Mississippi title application, vehicle owners must submit the following documentation when titling a vehicle in-person at a county Tax Collector's office:
- The current title,
- Bill of sale,
- The yellow copy of the Mississippi car title application (for drivers who purchase a vehicle from a dealership), and
- Payment for titling taxes and fees.
Other relevant information includes:
- The vehicle and/or title may be subject to sales and use tax,
- Mississippi does not grant credit for any vehicle tax paid to another state,
- Vehicle inspections may be required, and
- Mississippi offers an expedited title service for an additional $30 fee.
Agency: Mississippi Department of Revenue.
Fees: There are fees associated with titling a vehicle within Mississippi, including a $9 title fee.
