To title a vehicle within Michigan, you must present the original title with:
- Your signature,
- The seller's signature,
- An odometer disclosure statement,
- A statement from loan provider, and
- Your Michigan driver's license or identification.
Other relevant information includes:
- The vehicle and/or title may be subject to sales and use tax;
- Vehicle inspections aren't typically required;
- Titles aren't required for a trailer, semitrailer, or pole trailer that weighs less than 2,500 pounds;
- Michigan offers an expedited title service for an additional $5 fee; and
- Michigan will issue a title only for inoperable vehicles, salvage vehicles, and at the customer's request.
