Vehicle titling - Illinois

To obtain a vehicle title within Illinois, vehicle owners must submit an application for vehicle transaction (Form VSD 190). Additionally, motorists must submit the following:

The vehicle title or manufacturer's certificate of origin;

• An odometer reading;
• Payment for vehicle use tax, if applicable;
• Payment for titling and registration fees (if titling and registering at the same time);
• The number of the vehicle's temporary registration permit, if applicable; and
• Tax form RUT-25 or RUT-50, if applicable.

Other relevant information includes:

• The vehicle and/or title may be subject to sales and use tax;
• Idaho offers expedited title service for an additional $30 fee;
• Vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections are often not required, except where vehicle identification is in question;
• Idaho offers an electronic registration and title service; and
• Off-road motorcycles and ATVs are titled but not registered.
