Title applications should be completed at your County Tag Office. The following information is required:
- Valid Georgia driver's license or identification card;
- Proof of ownership, including the vehicle's original title or a manufacturer's certificate of origin;
- Form MV-1 Title/tag application; and
- Proof of insurance.
Other relevant information includes:
- The vehicle and/or title may be subject to sales and use tax;
- Vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections are typically required for cars that need to be registered but don't have a current and valid title, as well as vehicles brought in from out-of-state; and
- Georgia offers expedited title processing for an additional $10 fee.
Agency: Georgia Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division.
Fees: There are fees associated with titling a vehicle within Georgia, including an $18 original title application fee.
