Vehicle titling - Arkansas

To obtain a vehicle title within Arkansas, you'll need:

• A primary document (Arkansas title, bill of sale, manufacturer statement of origin, out of state title),
• An insurance card, and
• A federal odometer statement.

You may additionally need:

• Your personal property tax number (PPAN) assigned from your county assessor,
• The lien contract/security agreement,
• The county tax assessment for the current year, and
• Proof of paid tax receipt.

Other relevant information includes:

• Credit isn't given for sales or use tax paid to another state on purchases of motor vehicles, trailers, or semitrailers that were first registered by the purchaser within Arkansas;
• The vehicle and/or title may be subject to state sales tax; and
• A vehicle identification number (VIN) inspection is required for vehicles brought in from out-of-state which have been significantly damaged.
