State Info

New or used car title applicants must provide the following information when completing the application:
- The vehicle's license plate number, vehicle identification number (VIN), make, model, year, body style, list price, fuel type, and gross vehicle weight rating;
- The vehicle's odometer reading;
- The name, valid Arizona driver license number, and mailing address of the lienholder (if applicable);
- The vehicle's lien amount and lien date; and
- Vehicle ownership information, including the vehicle owner's name(s), driver's license number, date of birth, and mailing address.
In addition to submitting an Arizona car title and registration application, motorists must provide the following items:
- The vehicle's previous auto title (if applicable),
- A lien release for the vehicle (if applicable), and
- Payment for all titling and registration fees.
Other relevant information includes:
- The vehicle and/or title is subject to state, county, and city taxes, including sales tax;
- VIN inspections may be required, especially for those who bring in an out-of-state car without all of the ownership documents in place; and
- Arizona will issue a title only (no registration) in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes 28-2053.
Agency: Arizona Department of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Division.
Fees: There is a car title cost that all Arizona motorists must pay when obtaining this credential. The standard fee for new vehicle titles is $4, which must be paid along with the $8 cost for vehicle registration.
