State Info
Québec requires vehicle markings for certain types of vehicles. Contractors and owner-builders regulated by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) must display their 10-digit licence numbers on vehicles.
The 10-digit license number must appear as follows:
RBQ licence: XXXX-XXXX-XX
Contractors and owner-builders must display the licence number on vehicles (light-duty trucks, heavy duty trucks, heavy machinery, and tractor-semitrailer combinations) that display the company’s name, that travel on public streets or on construction sites, and that are used for providing work and services to clients in the construction field.
On a tractor semitrailer combination, where the licence number must appear depends on where the company advertisement appears. If the advertisement is on the tractor, then the licence number must appear on the tractor; if on the trailer, then on the trailer only. If the advertisement is on both the tractor and the semitrailer, the license number must appear once on both units.
