Nevada adopts portions of 40 CFR 279 used oil management standards, with a few additions. A summary of the additional requirements includes the following:
- Used oil Collection Centers in Nevada must submit a one-time registration form containing general facility information along with contact information.
- Used oil mixed with hazardous waste is a hazardous waste, except if mixed by a conditionally exempt small quantity generator of hazardous waste and the hazardous waste is hazardous solely because it exhibits the characteristic of ignitability and is not a listed hazardous waste. The generator may not mix more than five gallons of such waste per calendar month with its used oil, if the resulting mixture does not exhibit the characteristic of ignitibility.
- Certain other exceptions to the mixing prohibition apply. See NAC 444.8681.
